Milestones & Derailment

Remember back in March when I was so very close to closing the door on the 250's? Is it sad that I'm not entirely sure when that happened? And, of course, there was some back & forth before the door stayed shut. Because I am nothing if not two steps forward, one step back.

This was the scene in the locker room Thursday morning:

Two more to -50

If you can't tell, that rocker is just one side of 240. I'm closing the door on the 240's.

That's not even the end of it.

In two more pounds, I'll have lost a total of 50 pounds.

50 pounds.

I'm not even sure how I feel about that.

Since my doctors are all fancy now & I can check my medical records online, all the way back to 2007 (the earliest record on there), I now weigh less than any recorded weight. I have no idea how long it's been since I weighed 240. Much less 238.

So now I'm coming up on this big milestone, and, while I kind of feel like every time the scale moves down that, in itself, is a victory, I know that this is a pretty big milestone and that I should celebrate.

And because I'm, you know, addicted to food, the celebrations I'm used to having involve things like, you know. Food.

Not only do I know that's not the best choice (duh), I've been actively working to include treats into my eating because I've met me and I know what happens when I deprive myself for too long. Instead, I count calories and work out and, when I have some spare room, I make choices to sometimes have a little something something extra. Like frozen yogurt.

By this method, in fact, I was able to attend Dinner & a Deductible and not go over my calorie goal.

The GoCart & Rosemary Garlic Tots

Oh I sure the fuck did put some serious thought into this meal. I've known this was coming for awhile, so I made sure to stay on track during the prior days. Then I ran intervals in the morning to "earn" me some more calories to "spend". Then I pondered my decision very carefully. When Drewski's announced their "secret" sandwich, the GoCart, I knew I had found my dinner.

The GoCart, aka the S'moreski, is nutella, marshmallow fluff & graham crackers grilled on french bread. With the tots, it was the perfect blend of warm, sweet, gooey, savory and salty. So much good stuff.

Getting back on track, I need ideas to celebrate the upcoming milestone. Leaving out food and clothes shopping (because, hello), I'm kind of stumped. What's a good way to celebrate a weight loss milestone that doesn't involve food or spending lots of money? Ideas?

Completely getting off track, the Bloggess posted this Thursday. I absolutely love her, and this video makes me love her even more. Some days I think I'm just one more Jerk In Traffic away from snapping & becoming just like her.

Warning to SweetPea.

The song that's playing is this one, which I just love. I'm not sure if I've posted it before, so here it is, potentially again.

You're welcome.

non-food or clothing related rewards: tickets to a show or concert you really want to see but might be a smidge out of budget (and you get to do it with NO GUILT!), a class you want to take (doesn't have to be health/work-out related), a book or cd you have been coveting (it will be so much more special knowing WHY you have it). hope that helps and congrats!!

A huge "Way to go!" I'm on my own ride and it's been a wild one! I think I am FINALLY in the right place to do something about it and it's nothing but two steps forward one step back! Congrats!
