Who Needs a Fucking Map?

This is going to be a cluster fuck of a hodge-podge post, so I hope you've got your seatbelts fastened.

Godspeed Nate Dogg. Thanks for sharing your vision and your voice with us while you had the chance.

A phenomenal and brave post by Mrs. Miscellanea about going from Suburban Dream to Living Poor. For everyone that thinks it could never happen to them or that the poor somehow did it to themselves, I hope this serves as a wake up call.

SweetPea & I are doing much better now than we have in the past, but things still get pretty tight and there's frequent juggling going on. We still make an effort to do as much as we can as often as we can to support non-profit organizations. Even just a small donation in the right hands (Loaves & Fishes, Sacramento Food Bank & Services, for example) can do so much to help those in need.

And, truly, "there, but for the grace of god, go I," so I try to donate what I can (be it time or money) when I can, especially now, when any help is so desperately needed.

I read this horrific story out of Texas (who's surprised? OH no, you're not!): An 11 year old girl allegedly gang raped by no fewer than 18 people, ranging in age from 14 to 27 and the community is being "torn apart" because of shit like this:

On Thursday, Quanell X, a community activist, traveled from Houston to help stage a town hall meeting called to address rising concerns -- especially in Cleveland's African-American community -- about the case.

Among other issues, he said that the girl didn't do enough to stop the alleged assailants.

And not just this jackass, apparently a lot of people question whether or not this 11 year old girl did enough to stop the attack and, further, are questioning whether her parents were somehow unfit because they "allowed" this to happen.

OHmyfuck. I don't ever think I will understand what the fuck is wrong with people that think like this. And, by the way, all of you douchebags who think this little girl somehow bears some responsibility for this attack get to rot in hell right next to her attackers.

And this dipshit: Because, apparently, it wasn't enough to breed the dogs and sell off the puppies, this asshole then dumped their parents. The ad that was originally forwarded to me listed the dogs as free. I hope (but somehow doubt) that someone responsible got their hands on these dogs and will fix them and take good care of them.

And, yes, Marvin. You're going to hell. For this.

Next up, combining dogs & giving, you should know that The Verbosery is a big fan of the work Bad Rap does to not only rescue, rehabilitate and home pit bulls, but also to offer training, education and awareness about pit bulls. Recently, they announced that Paco Collars would donate to Bad Rap the $500 prize in the San Francisco BayList contest if Paco Collars wins for Best Pet Couture. Just yesterday, Bad Rap announced a change in plans. If Paco Collars wins, Bad Rap will be donating the prize money to help the victims of the earthquakes & tsunami in Japan.

A noble gesture, indeed. However, at the risk of saying something unpopular, I don't believe that disasters of this level ever want for support. This has been plastered across news, blogs, facebook and twitter since it happened, and the outpouring of offers of financial support is, as it often is in these situations, phenomenal. But, in my exerience, the people who are willing to donate $10 by text message, support or even organize a fundraiser or donate directly to disaster relief efforts are not the same people that are going to pull out their wallets to help out some dogs. $500 is a lot of money for an organization like Bad Rap.

So I'm asking you. You, sitting there, reading this stupid blog. Do you have $5 you can spare? $10? How about $3? Go to the Bad Rap website & donate it. Whatever you can. Anything you can. And whether you can or not, please help me spread the word. Maybe we can raise the $500 that Bad Rap planned to use to rehabilitate this girl. Because everybody deserves a second chance.

Finally today, some photos.

I love this! Now who wants to buy a house?

I get one of these about once a month and it amuses me greatly. If you're in California, and you're looking to buy or sell a house, I can totally hook you up with an awesome real estate agent. And if she can't help you, she can find you someone who can. Really.

Copyfeets

Who do you think they're trying to fool? Have you tried these? Would you try these? Can you tell by the photo that the last two toes are one pocket, not two?

Raise your hand if you've missed this kind of post. It has been awhile, hasn't it?

As to the toe shoes...I own a pair of the Vibram Fivefingers, and amazingly enough, as freaky looking as they are...they're quite comfy.

..I'm just sayin
