I'm really peeved, y'all.
They are moving my Farmer's Market.
It's been there for 23 years and nobody's getting really specific about why it's moving. The Farmer's Market organization is trying to talk up the move, saying that the new location provides more security, in that there's less chance someone will "build on top of" them.
They're also trying to spin the "green" angle, because the new location is at a light rail station, so people can take public transit to the new market.
Erm.
Let's weigh our options, shall we?
Drive to current market: 4.3 miles, 12 minutes.
Drive to new market: 8.9 miles, 22 minutes.
Public transit to new market: 1 hour, 9 minutes.
Drive to the huge downtown market on Sunday, instead: 17 miles, 20 minutes.
What would you choose?
For the same drive time, I can go to a market two to three times the size of the Sunrise market. It's also down the street from the Sacramento Natural Food Co-op. So if I wanted to limit my food to local or organic, all of my shopping would be in one place. Kind of.
I don't know, y'all. What I can tell you is that, for a pisces, I really get grumpy about change. That's the compulsive in me. Personally, I think any good investigator is at least a little bit compulsive. But that could just be me.
I recognize these guys from this picture. This stand is my first stop. Mountain grown apples, asian pears and citrus. Yummy! And these guys are totally awesome.
I don't know. I guess it's back to the downtown market for me.

I love my farmer's market for both the fresh food and the photo op it provides me.
