Proposition 8 Fallout - From the Newswire

Catholics, Mormons defend backing same-sex marriage ban

"Proposition 8 is not against any group in our society. Its sole focus is on preserving God's plan for people living upon this earth throughout time," Cardinal Roger Mahony, archbishop of the Diocese of Los Angeles, said in a statement Thursday.

"The Catholic Church understands that there are people who choose to live together in relationships other than traditional marriage. All of their spiritual, pastoral and civil rights should be respected, together with their membership in the Church," Mahony said.
"It is important to understand that this issue for the Church has always been about the sacred and divine institution of marriage: a union between a man and a woman," the church (Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints) said in a statement.
"This is a great day for marriage," Ron Prentice, chairman of, said in a written statement. "The people of California stood up for traditional marriage and reclaimed this great institution."

Church told "obvious lies" gay activists allege
"It's very unfortunate and embarrassing that the (Christian religion) is in large part responsible for this act of bigotry," the Rev. Ed Bacon (All Saints Church in Pasadena ) said after his sermon.

Thousands at Capitol rally back continuing fighting against Prop. 8

Schwarzenegger tells backers of gay marriage: Don't give up

On Sunday, he urged backers of gay marriage to follow the lesson he learned as a bodybuilder trying to lift weights that were too heavy for him at first. "I learned that you should never ever give up. . . . They should never give up. They should be on it and on it until they get it done."

Capitol Rally

I should have a post about Sunday's rally today or tomorrow. I have pictures, too. Hopefully I can get them sorted through in the next couple of days, and then I will be putting them on Busted Knuckle Photography.

Keep an eye out!
