Over the winter, a house on SweetPea's daily commute went up for sale, bank owned. It was cute, with a little plot of land and a barn. As a surprise, she had her grandpa, who is still an active real estate broker at almost 80 years old, take us on a tour. I thought that I would be underwhelmed by the whole thing, and kind of got mad because it would burst my little "cute house" bubble. Little did I know how much we would both love it once we got inside. It was like someone picked into our brains and pulled out all the little things that we love or would require. Often, the things we wouldn't even think to ask for. Too bad that, even bank owned, the little house was way out of our league.
The next few days in daily photo, I'm going to feature shots from the house.
These are the family room. Great room. Party room. What would you call this? I was standing in the same spot for both shots - the room was pretty big. On the other side of the fireplace is another family room, slightly smaller. Huge, huge ceilings. This room is at the farthest end of the house. The house is shaped like an L, so if you look out that sliding glass door, you can see the pool and, beyond that, the kitchen. Also, yes, that's a bar. It has a space for a fridge and a dishwasher.

I LOVE to tour houses too. My favorite time of the day is dusk when people have turned on their lights but haven't yet shut the curtains....Gives me a chance to peak at the inside of houses and different deccorating styles.
The house looks really nice. I have a thing for built-ins. (I don't have any) You would have to do a little cosmetic work. Still, it has great bones.
It sounds like you have an urge to move. Keep your eyes and SweetPea's Grandpa's eyes open. I've heard that CA's prices are going down like most of the country's prices.
There's always CT ;)
