Definitely a difference. And about what I expected. Based on prior run times, I'd anticipated being able to complete the mileage within 4 hours, but that effing hill just killed me. Not surprising. I do expect that I should be able to run the official half marathon inside of four hours.
Yes, I know that's really kind of slow. Hell, the Boston Marathon was just run in just over half that time. But you know what? I don't give a shit. I'm slow & I don't care.
OK, so maybe I care a little bit. I googled the results from last year's run to see how I would fare. Definitely last page of the results, but I'm pretty sure I won't be last. Not that it matters, but it is a little easier on the psyche. You know.
I snapped this up on the Hill of Doom and I really like it. I'm pretty sure it has more to do with the gorgeous sky in the background than anything relating to my photography skills. But whatever.
Isn't this just gorgeous lush greenery with perfectly groomed trails? Yeah. That's the grounds of Folsom State Prison. Yes, really. I really do hope that guards or other prison staffers get to take advantage of what must be pretty spectacular trail running. There are turkeys, deer and cattle that roam the grounds, too. It's pretty gorgeous and I really hope someone gets to take advantage of it.

If I understand your geekery properly, there is much more elevation in your training route than the actual route. That would be proper. Now when is this event?

Cassie - It's the camera on my cell phone! I'd love to take my "real" camera, but it's huge.
