In what may be the perfect analogy to what our lives sometimes feel like, we came home today to a sad discovery.
Our dove and her little egg are gone.
The front porch was littered with dove feathers. We haven't yet found the little dove body. Do cats eat the whole thing, bones and all?

They eat the entire thing. I've had several dove nests raided. I've had the fledglings fall out of the nest and die and I've saved one and took him to Lindsey Wildlife, where I later learned they probably put him down. It is the circle of life. It still sucks.
Neighbor and I were discussing which cat was likely responsible. She thinks it was Spooky, I think it was Pumpkin. But the only way I can see the raid being pulled off is someone would have had to dive-bomb the nest from the roof. I don't think jumping up to it would have worked. Then again, I'm not a cat.

From the day we arrive on the planet
And blinking, step into the sun
There's more to see than can ever be seen
More to do than can ever be done
There's far too much to take in here
More to find than can ever be found
But the sun rolling high
Through the sapphire sky
Keeps great and small on the endless round
It's the Circle of Life
And it moves us all
Through despair and hope
Through faith and love
Till we find our place
On the path unwinding
In the Circle
The Circle of Life
It's the Circle of Life
And it moves us all
Through despair and hope
Through faith and love
Till we find our place
On the path unwinding
In the Circle
The Circle of Life
